A page from the Young Readers' Club Diary
There was a lot of buzz when we met at the scheduled time. Someone had discovered that their favorite author, Gordon Korman, had published the sequel to the books, Ungifted and Supergifted. The only problem, the cost of the book exceeded the budget. Fast forward 6 months, one of the readers discovered that the price has dropped.
The book was bought. We have begun reading, analyzing every new character, predicting what could happen next in the group, waiting for the obvious to happen, but of course it never happens...
Yet Another Unforeseen Problem.
One of the characters has the same name as one of the readers. The character's personality traits aren't exactly something that someone would aspire to have. Every time they read about this character, everyone was on an edge not wanting to hurt the reader with the same name. The reader then came up with the idea of reading the name in reverse. While that was challenging no doubt, it was worth the effort. We could enjoy the book without having to worry about one of our peers' feelings getting hurt.
We now read on, sitting at the edge of our chairs, trying to guess what is going to happen next, will any of our theories come true?
