Is a Children's Book Club Only About Books?

Or Can it Be More?
A typical book club reads the same book and talks about it. At Young Readers' Club, we wanted to go a little more further than reading and discussing a book together. While we do read and discuss a book chosen by the young readers together, the readers do not confine themselves to one book which everyone reads together. Every one of them are encouraged to pick any book of their choice and read them outside of the time that we meet. They are welcome to share their reading experiences and book recommendations.

How Does This Kind of a Book Club Concept Help?
For starters, the young readers at the club have learnt to recognize that everyone of us can have diverse interests in terms of books and yet come together to celebrate a common interest- reading.
Free discussions pave the way to discovering another reader on the book club reading and enjoying books by the same author. Over time, they learn what each one of them like and dislike. One reader in between books once asked his peers during one session, "You all know my reading preferences. Please recommend a book in those genres." Within minutes he had a list of recommendations from his peers.
Making the book club a friendly place where children interact with each other freely, form 'reader bonds' over common interests, makes this place a happy place to look forward to.
We are much more than a book club. We are a group of readers happy to meet one another and discuss books and more!
